Essence GU (Girls United) is a global digital destination for young, multicultural individuals to find the community, perspectives, resources, and opportunities to support them through their life’s milestones. For the fifth year in a row, GU Summit served as a safe space for young Black women, girls, and gender-expansive youth to come together and fellowship.
This year, GMB ATL was present at the Essence GU summit and very impactful! 12 year old DJ Mo Smilez DJ'd her first ever set with guidance from mentor DJ Baby Drea. The crowd was delighted and danced the whole night!
As DJ Mo Smilez kept the crowd going, 9 year old Purp Purp interviewed some of today's hottest emerging female artists like Laila! and Lady London. Purp Purp's eyes lit up with joy as the women shared heart felt advice and inspirations with her and the rest of the GMB Atlanta team.
Simultaneously, our Los Angeles lead instructor, Ms. Marlee, conducted a beat making workshop; exposing attendees to the Girls Make Beats mission and the tools needed to create a free beat at home using Soundtrap.

I checked out the interface, and I like how it’s structured. It’s simple but still gives you all the information you need without confusion.
I had a look at the interface, and it works really well. Clean design, clear sections, and smooth navigation throughout.
I took a quick glance at the interface, and it seems thoughtfully designed. It’s easy to use and doesn’t feel cluttered at all.

I explored the interface for a bit, and it’s quite appealing. The layout is tidy, and everything flows naturally from one section to another.
