"Girls Make Beats Is Empowering A New Generation of Female DJs"
"Girls Make Beats (GMB) Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers girls by expanding the female presence of DJs, Music Producers, and Audio Engineers. "
"[Only] Six women have been nominated for Producer Of The Year (though, as yet, no woman has taken home the award)."
Girls Make Beats is here to change that!
GMB works with girls ages 8-17 and hosts educational seminars, summer camps, industry panels and networking events. GMB helps girls further their careers as music producers, DJs, and audio engineers by providing courses on industry leading hardware and software and by offering internships at recording studios as well as Pro Tools certifications. GMB also serves as an outlet for girls to unite and collaborate within the music industry.
OUR LA CHAPTER LEADER
Whitney Taber has been working her way up the ladder in the music
industry since getting her start in 2011 as an Executive assistant. Shortly after that she was hired by her now mentor Rose Mann Churney, and began working for the Iconic Record Plant recording studios in the Client Service department. She then fell in love with the recording studio dynamics, and quickly became head of her department.
During the next 7 years, while still remaining immersed in music, she explored other avenues of the entertainment industry, becoming a TV and radio personality, producing her own radio shows, hosting red carpets and any other projects she could be involved in. With her natural love for others, she still always found a way to donate her time to give back to the community with her involvement to help end homelessness in the streets of LA. She was looking for a way to combine her love of music, helping others, and empowering women.
Whitney is now the Assistant studio manager of Record Plant recording studios and LA Chapter Leader of Girls Make Beats where she prides herself on providing a level of excellent service while also being an example of great things women can achieve with the right leadership to ensure the next generation of women and music will be heard, represented and respected.
